Hospice is primarily a home care program, but services may also be provided in a hospital or nursing home.
The hospice team, called the interdisciplinary group (IDG), helps you and your family make informed decisions
about caregiving, teaches skills for care and helps with end-of-life care. Hospice also offers help through the
bereavement period.
Position Summary
The Director of Hospice Services oversees the strategic and operational leadership of our hospice program,
ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.
This role is responsible for program administration, staff management, patient care oversight, and community
outreach. The Executive Director ensures that hospice care provided by the interdisciplinary group (IDG) aligns
with the agencys mission, vision, and philosophy, and supports patients and their families through caregiving
and the bereavement period.
Essential Duties :
Leadership & Administration
- Strategic Oversight : Provide strategic leadership and vision, ensuring that the hospice program aligns with Primecare's overarching goals. Formulate long-term strategies to foster growth and improve service delivery.
- Operational Management : Oversee the daily operations of the hospice service, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, staff, and patient care.
- Policy Implementation : Implement and enforce organizational policies and procedures that support high standards of care and regulatory compliance. Update these as necessary to adapt to changing healthcare landscapes or regulations.
- Staff Development : Ensure comprehensive orientation for new staff and ongoing education for all team members. Oversee the development and implementation of competency-based training programs.
RN Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight : Oversee the delivery of clinical services and ensure that nursing care is provided according to the highest professional standards. This includes conducting regular assessments to evaluate service effectiveness.Patient and Family Interaction : Facilitate strong communication channels between staff, patients, and families to ensure that care decisions are well-informed and respect patient wishes.Case Management : Regularly review patient cases with the IDG, adjusting care plans as necessary to meet the evolving needs of patients.Quality Control : Ensure that all clinical notes and records are complete, accurate, and comply with legal and regulatory standards.Team Management
Recruitment and Staffing : Lead the recruitment and hiring processes to secure highly qualified professionals for all hospice care positions.Performance Management : Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement plans to ensure a high level of care.Team Dynamics : Cultivate a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among all staff members.Patient Oversight
Care Coordination : Ensure that patient care is coordinated efficiently across the interdisciplinary team to meet the comprehensive needs of patients.Patient Advocacy : Advocate for patient needs within the organization and in the broader healthcare community to ensure that patient care remains a top priority.End-of-Life Care : Oversee and ensure the delivery of compassionate end-of-life care that respects the dignity and comfort of patients.Regulatory Compliance
Compliance Monitoring : Continuously monitor operations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.Risk Management : Identify and address potential risks within the hospice program, implementing risk management strategies to mitigate these risks.Quality Improvement
Data-Driven Improvements : Use data and feedback to drive improvements in care quality and operational efficiency.Best Practices Implementation : Stay informed about industry best practices and integrate innovative care practices into the hospice program.Community Outreach and Education
Community Relations : Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance the reputation and reach of the hospice program.Public Education : Develop and lead initiatives to educate the public about hospice care benefits and services, enhancing community understanding and engagement.Budget Management
Fiscal Responsibility : Develop the annual budget and monitor financial performance against budgetary expectations to ensure financial health and sustainability.Resource Allocation : Allocate resources in a manner that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring that patient care services are prioritized.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competences :

Qualifications :
A Georgia-licensed health care professional, who has 3 years of management experience in a hospice setting.Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.Must be a Registered Nurse who is currently licensed to practice nursing under the provisions of Article 1 of Chapter 26 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia.
