Job Summary
The Employment Specialist is responsible for the training, supervision, and care of individuals in vocational or pre-vocational settings. This role involves direct support, job coaching, and assisting individuals in achieving their employment goals. Work hours and locations may vary based on individual job placements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support assigned individuals, ensuring their safety and progress toward employment goals.
- Identify and develop appropriate job opportunities in the community for independent or supported employment.
- Provide training, supervision, and vocational counseling to individuals, including assistance with self-care and daily living activities as needed.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and behavioral specialists to implement individualized program plans.
- Maintain professional conduct, fostering a positive and respectful environment for individuals, staff, and employers.
- Monitor and document individuals’ work schedules, attendance, performance, and progress.
- Conduct site visits and maintain open communication with employers to ensure job satisfaction and quality service.
- Assist individuals in developing natural workplace supports and social skills.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, etc.).
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold individual rights, reporting any suspected abuse or neglect immediately.
- Transport individuals to and from job sites while ensuring vehicle safety and cleanliness.
Skills
- Required: High School Diploma or GED, valid Connecticut Driver’s License, and a good driving record.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in vocational programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with Therap software is a plus.
