Job Description
PrimeCare Medical, Inc. (PCM) is a private, physician-founded, nationally accredited correctional health care practice in operation since 1986.
We provide comprehensive medical & mental health care services to over 80 county jails, prisons, and juvenile detention centers throughout the states of PA, MD, NY, FL & NH.
Correctional medicine offers a unique opportunity for medical professionals to utilize their skills daily. It combines Primary Care, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, and Addiction Medicine to serve an underserved and diverse patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical services to inmates/patients while adhering to current medical standards.
- Assume clinical management of the medical program according to NCCHC/ACA Standards and PCM policies.
- Collaborate with facility administration and PCM to schedule workdays according to mutual agreements.
- Offer medical treatment to confined inmates/patients when applicable.
- Provide consultation to professionals within the unit.
- Oversee and supervise all medical clinical services.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical entries for each inmate/patient contact.
- Be available for emergency medical coverage via phone call.
- Work collaboratively and supervise clinical activities of fellow physicians and medical staff.
- Evaluate inmates/patients referred with medical health concerns for presence or absence of mental illness and refer accordingly.
- Refer inmates/patients to appropriate medical facilities as necessary.
- Collaborate with pharmacy to evaluate and approve medications and medicinal preparations.
- Establish and monitor standards of care provided by physicians, psychologists, and nurses according to NCCHC/ACA and accepted medical standards.
