We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to lead our growing Construction Operations Division, which handles a wide array of field operations in heavy civil construction.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager with a solid dual background in heavy civil construction field operations and project management to oversee all aspects of our Construction Operations Division, which is mostly focused on transportation projects (roads, bridges, rail, tunnels, etc.). This individual will be responsible for leading construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring all field operations are efficiently executed, and providing both strategic and hands-on leadership.
The role requires leadership across key functional areas like engineering, surveying (layout, as-builts, etc.), field testing, inspection and close coordination with remote engineering teams for technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Construction Operations Division, ensuring projects meet client requirements, timelines, and budgets.
- Oversee field construction and support operations, including surveying, testing, and inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with remote engineering teams to provide technical support for field activities.
- Coordinate with the clients and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between project management and construction fieldwork.
- Manage, mentor, and grow the team to develop in-house talent for future leadership roles.
- Partaking in the preparation, review, and approval of project proposals, bids, and estimates in collaboration with the Bidding, Estimating, & Proposal Writing Department.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations for field operations.
- Provide regular updates to upper management on project progress, including key performance indicators and risk management strategies.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering, Construction management, or a related field is required. However, extensive relevant experience may be accepted instead of Education.
- 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction management with a proven track record of leading field operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work with remote teams.
- Familiarity with international construction codes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications related to engineering or construction management.
- Dual experience in engineering design and construction project management.
- Experience in surveying, field testing, and inspection would be a plus.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore) and project planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
- Experience working with international and remote teams.
- Familiarity with training and development in construction operations.
