DIRECTOR OF PROCUREMENT AT PRIMEFLIGHT
The Director of Procurement provides strategic leadership over the company’s procurement functions, driving initiatives that align purchasing operations with organizational goals and evolving market conditions. This role is responsible for developing and executing high-level purchasing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the procurement of goods and services across all business units. The Director leads a purchasing professional, ensuring optimal performance, compliance with company and regulatory policies, and cost-effective sourcing practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies tailored to company needs and market conditions
- Manage daily purchasing activities, supervising the purchasing team and overseeing the procurement of all goods and services
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain goods and services at the best prices and terms
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable and timely supply chain
- Monitor market trends to take advantage of opportunities and manage risks associated with price fluctuations and supply disruptions
- Evaluate and optimize purchasing operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Oversee, analyze and approve the acquisition of goods, materials, and services, ensuring they meet specified quality and price criteria
- Coordinate with inventory managers to assess inventory needs and maintain optimal stock levels
- Implement and maintain procurement policies that comply with company and regulatory requirements
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
- Conduct performance evaluations of vendors and suppliers to establish a qualified supplier list and foster strong partnerships
- Lead the team in the strategic sourcing process, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ execution
- Ensure all purchasing records are complete and accurate, maintaining meticulous documentation for auditing purposes
- Support and facilitate business unit procurement sourcing requests.
- Participate in the strategic planning of the company, and support M&A advising on the potential impacts of material costs and availability on proposed projects
- May be assigned other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- 5–7 years of experience in purchasing and procurement, with a demonstrated track record of purchasing authority and successful cost-saving initiatives
- Proven experience negotiating with vendors and establishing company-wide vendor partnerships
- Skilled in implementing and managing vendor agreements to support organizational goals
- Ability to work in an office, onsite, Monday-Friday
- Intermediate/Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be flexible to work extended hours on occasion to support our field operations
