Intern - Commodities

Description

Hilltop Securities Inc. is currently looking for qualified students to join our team as summer interns in Commodities and Structuring with the flexibility to work in either our Amarillo, TX, or our Memphis, TN office location. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with our Commodities and Structured Finance teams to gain hands-on experience working on a trading floor and providing research/analysis support and marketing support. This individual will gain exposure to commodities and structured finance by working with our commodities business unit on hedging and investment strategies involving futures, options, and other derivatives as well as structured investments. Candidates will gain applied and firsthand exposure to energy, grains, livestock, and soft commodity classes. By working with directly with the lead strategist for the commodity business group, the intern will gain applied knowledge of Commodity Markets.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with lead strategist to learn about Commodity Markets.
• Marketing research/analysis, presentations, white papers
• Applied quantitative financial model development inside Commodity Markets.
• Work with lead strategist on model development.
• Will work with different types of data sets.
• Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical, verbal, written, communication skills.
• Experience using SQL, Python, Anaconda, R, Excel, and BI (Power BE, AWS, Tableau).
• Exposure to Bloomberg and large data sets is a plus but not a requirement.
• Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion to produce high quality results in a timely manner.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Rising senior or junior studying (but not limited to) mathematics, statistics, economics, , pure sciences, computer science, engineering, finance, or other related fields.
• Candidate must have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not
