Primeplus Senior Centers is seeking an energetic, upbeat, detail-oriented individual to meet the two goals of the Senior Center program:

· Enhance the quality of life for the older adult through wellness classes
DEFINITION
Supervised primarily by the Director of Operations, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing Primeplus’ evidence-based wellness programs, activities, and educational workshops to ensure high quality delivery of services. The coordinator oversees facility set-ups for all senior center programs and works cooperatively with staff to expand membership recruitment. The coordinator also supervises the paid wellness/fitness independent contractors and volunteers.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Coordinates, plans, and facilitates health and fitness activities and programs for adults age 50 and older.
- Assist in planning, and implementing comprehensive wellness programs, activities, and services that promote healthy lifestyles.
- Work with staff to plan and implement periodic special events in partnership with area organizations and agencies.
- Develop and implement means for measuring health and wellness outcome measures for grant reporting and program evaluation.
- Provide safe, effective, motivating group fitness classes for seniors.
- Stay abreast of all current fitness trends.
- Substitute or lead fitness classes as needed.
- Develops promotion and publicity plans for wellness and fitness programs.
- Compiles statistical summaries of participant data, class attendance, and equipment inventories to ensure proper detailed program evaluation.
- Prepare annual utilization reports for program analysis and reporting.
- Recruit, orient, and train volunteers that provide staff and program support.
- Attend monthly Senior Advisory Council meetings.
- Organize and oversee Fitness Advisory meetings, implementing suggestions as appropriate.
- Provides educational presentations and training programs.
- Provide information/referrals regarding services for older adults of all abilities.
- Assists the Accounting Specialist in the development of budget, policies, and procedures relevant to the operation of the wellness program.
- New hire is willing to obtain certification in a national Diabetes T2 Lifestyle Coach Program sponsored by the CDC at start of employment.. You must be able to teach the weekly class and maintain strong records on each cohort for reporting purposes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, with a combination of education and experience indicating sufficient knowledge to perform the job required.
- Six months minimum experience in recreational program planning, volunteer coordination or equivalent related experience is also preferred.
- Certification in fitness relevant to their area of expertise.
- Experience with evidence – based reporting or programs
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Ability to implement, coordinate and manage programs as relates to the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively with older adults, supervisor, staff and community representatives.
- Good oral and written communications and public relations skills desired.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
- Some knowledge of outcomes measures preferred.
OTHER
- Position is full-time weekdays with paid annual, sick and holiday leave.
