Job Summary

The Loan Assistant is responsible for accurately managing commercial and consumer lending documentation through PrimeSouth Bank’s established systems as well as reviewing it to ensure it is completed in full and complies with current banking regulations and policies.

Essential Functions

  • Review initial loan approval and work with borrower to gather appropriate documentation
  • Collect all required documentation for the loan package.
  • Create a loan submission package for the Underwriting department.
  • Submit files to assigned Underwriter.
  • Satisfy all conditions when received from Underwriter.
  • Ensure that approval falls within the established lending guidelines
  • Communicate with other professionals, including attorneys, county clerks and title companies.
  • Resolve post-closing issues including collecting documentation required for sale of loans.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties within the scope of employment as directed or assigned not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

A. Supervision Received

This position will report to the Market President or Senior Loan Officer. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of department activities.

This position typically will not require supervisory responsibilities. Some situations may occur that will require training or mentoring of other employees or interns.

C. Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, squat, and climb, as well as the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds intermittently and at a distance typically of less than 50 feet. Additionally, this position requires the ability to sit at a computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, view digital screens for prolonged periods of time without eye strain, and perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.

D. Personal Demands

The Loan Assistant may be required to work occasional overtime. Weekend work is not required except for special events. No extended travel is expected; however some travel to workshops, seminars, or other events may occur, usually during scheduled work hours. Any expected travel or weekend work will be announced in advance. The employee is not expected to answer phone calls or emails regarding business matters while off the clock.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Basic knowledge of underwriting terminology
  • In-depth knowledge of the real estate industry and current trends
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft software programs, specifically spreadsheet capabilities and database development
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize and maintain large amounts of data
  • Characteristics including honesty, integrity, and professionalism
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma is required. A Bachelor’s degree or completion of college coursework related to business, finance, accounting, or other related field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of loan processing experience is required. Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the United States. No security clearance needed. Candidate will need to pass a drug test, credit history check, and criminal background check. Prior convictions could be considered if the candidate can show that they are not relevant to performance in this role.
