Job Summary:
The Business Development Representative will work directly with distributors, end-use customers, and the entire sales team providing printing and packaging technical knowledge as a Technical Expert in the field of Packaging, including Printing, Films, and Tapes. The position would match Adherex's capabilities to the customer's business needs and accelerate the commercial development process. Responsibilities will include strategic planning with tactical business execution with existing and new markets and customers. This position will be Adherex's leading customer facing Product Expert in Printing for Packaging applications requiring strong technical knowledge in flexographic printing. This role will oversee print projects from conception to completion on all design requirements, including the design requirements. The position also requires an individual to be commercially oriented and demonstrate strong customer development skills.
Job Duties:
- Identify new business opportunities through collaboration with existing sales resources, market research, networking, and cold calling targeted distributors and end-users.
- Play a key role in the sales process by qualifying potential market spaces and accounts, validating fit between Adherex's capabilities and customer needs.
- Lead printing strategy development by defining targeted end-user segments and market niches where Adherex can create a lasting competitive position.
- Act as the primary technical expert and point of contact for customers regarding printing and design needs, providing consultation on design feasibility and optimization.
- Manage print projects from conception to completion, including creating estimates for art, prepress services, and plates, and determining ink colors.
- Work with Sales Operations to create quotations for new and existing business and coordinate the customer quotation process validating proper price points.
- Collaborate with members of the Packaging Division to secure business with all parts of the product portfolio including tapes, converted films, and protective packaging.
- Maintain open communication with customers throughout project lifecycles, addressing concerns, changes, and providing updates.
- Travel to customers and industry-specific trade shows (normal expectation 25%, could surge to 40% with trade shows).
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel frequently, which may involve driving long distances or flying, and navigating various locations, including client offices, job sites, or remote locations.

- Stamina to manage long workdays, especially when balancing sales activities with contract management responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Sales or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial business experience and technical background in the flexographic printing.
