SUMMARY :

Responsible for promoting sales, customer service and for maintaining the market retail store / gift shop by keeping it well stocked and clean at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for promoting sales, customer service and for maintaining the retail store / gift shop well stocked and clean at all times.
  • Gets and counts the bank and sets up the cash register at the start of the shift.
  • Greets the customers and assists them in their selection of merchandise to purchase.
  • Scans and / or inputs stock numbers of items to be purchased by the customers into the cash register and totals amount due.
  • Accepts cash payments, processes credit card payments, issues receipts and gives change as necessary.
  • Gives cash refunds or issues credit memos to customers for returned items.
  • Stocks, displays and dusts merchandise; keeps clothing neatly folded and sized.
  • Assist in ticketing, folding, hanging of garments and re-merchandising displays as needed.
  • Sets damaged merchandise aside for the stock person to remove.
  • Maintains an inventory of merchandise and supplies for sale in the store.
  • Makes requisition of same as the need arises.
  • Informs immediate supervisor of best selling items and requests merchandise currently not available in the store.
  • Records all amounts received at the end of the shift and prepares the shift end transaction report.
  • Reconciles totals on the cash register tape against cash on hand at the end of the shift.
  • Turns over the bank and monies to the cage at the designated location of the shift.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness at the store at all times.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

All Employees must be knowledgeable to all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • No previous experience required, willing to train.
  • Must obtain a Health Card and Alcohol Awareness Card.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to handle objects; and regularly lift and / or move objects 10 pounds and up.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Alcohol Awareness Card and Health Card.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Must have Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
