Job Responsibilities and Duties
- For complex projects may lead project estimate with support from an estimator.
- Ensures all estimators estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures
- Owns and maintains all cost databases in the estimating platform.
- Supports the detailed review of estimates and attends estimate/bid reviews for Solar and BESS projects ensuring all requirements (customer project requirements and internal execution and risk requirements) are met.
- Participates in technical kick offs to provide input in design strategy, technology selection, execution strategy and labor strategy.
- Understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and perform time-studies on project sites.
- Subject matter expert in company unit metrics, efficiencies, work instructions, and estimating department procedures.
- When bidding work with a new technology, supports the development of new crew assemblies, productivities, and execution with support of Operations.
- Supports capture teams when bidding union work by collaborating with the labor compliance group and helping determine and set overall labor strategy.
- Supports Director of Estimating in maintaining and continuous improvement of all tools, templates, processes, and procedures utilized by the Estimating Department.
- Continuously reviews Estimating Department reports and works with Operations to capture critical feedback on key construction metrics to ensure continuous improvement on build efficiencies and capture the feedback loop (productivity rates) into the estimating database.
- Coaches, trains, and mentors all estimators and on estimating standards, means and methods, and design criteria.
- Travels and participates in industry conferences and trade shows to stay up to date on industry standards, technological improvements, and new means and methods. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, visiting project sites, and reviewing internal cost reports.
Experience and Certifications
- Prefer BS degree in a business, construction or engineering disciplined program. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, and/or other Power Generation
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience estimating solar construction projects
- Detailed knowledge of estimating fundamentals
- Detailed knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency
- Detailed knowledge of estimated software programs (B2W or WinEst preferred)
- Demonstrated skills in written communications; ability to compose basic as well as complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices.
- Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make detailed presentations to large, diverse groups.
- Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers.
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems
- General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
Target Salary - $175,000 - $210,000
