PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 3D Design Management: Lead the creation and maintenance of 3D designs for project packages, starting with the 30% design package, and update as new revisions or packages are released. Ensure that designs align with approved submittals and verified build standards. Alert General Superintendents and assigned project survey staff about significant design changes impacting construction methods, specifications, and quality.
- Collaboration & Feedback Integration: Work closely with field personnel, including Site Superintendents and Survey Party Chiefs, to assess the effectiveness of existing methods. Continuously refine and update processes based on feedback and changing project conditions.
- Preconstruction & Operations Coordination: Actively participate in project planning with Preconstruction & Operations teams. Consider lessons learned from previous projects to improve design and construction processes for future deliverables.
- File Management & Site Support: Ensure that all necessary files provided by the Project Design Lead or Project Engineer are shared with the site team for effective project execution. Offer ongoing support throughout the project cycle to assist the site team with necessary data.
- Analysis & Reporting: Perform detailed analyses such as tracker slope validation and surface-to-surface comparisons to ensure accurate pile heights and finished grades, as per the Engineer of Record (EOR) design. Produce heat maps from surface comparisons for civil subcontractors or mechanical crews to adjust earthwork/tracker piles.
- File Conversion & Data Delivery: Convert .CSV files provided by the EOR into VCL files and share them with site teams for use in project execution.
- Site Visits & Investigations: Occasionally visit proposed or active project sites to support Site Investigation teams, ensuring awareness of current methods, means, and construction updates.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- A four-year degree and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and work experience.
- Minimum of five years in construction with a specialization in CAD, 3D design, or related project experience. Experience should include the ability to understand, interpret, and convert civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction plans into a 3D modeling environment.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- Strong proficiency with CAD programs such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.
- Excellent communication skills to relay concerns, analytical data, and job constraints to teams and stakeholders.
- Strong ability to read and understand construction prints and contract documents.
- Proven leadership and ability to mentor junior team members in surveying and construction techniques.
