Position Summary
The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in financial planning, cost analysis, and reporting within our manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong background in cost accounting, project accounting, and government accounting, with experience in either the manufacturing industry or public accounting. The ideal candidate will help optimize financial performance, improve cost efficiencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and maintain accurate cost accounting records, including standard costs, variances, and inventory valuation.
- Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) by preparing cost reports, forecasts, and budget variance analysis.
- Monitor and report on manufacturing costs, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Assist with project accounting, tracking costs, and ensuring compliance with contracts and budgets.
- Ensure adherence to government accounting regulations, particularly related to contracts, pricing, and cost reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and finance, to improve cost structures and financial reporting accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements to enhance financial performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment or public accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, project accounting, and government accounting standards.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams.
