Description
To fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a laboratory technician in the Residue Department as part of a support system to the analysists performing pesticide analysis in agricultural and environmental samples according to set procedures and protocols.

RESPONSIBLITIES (NOT LIMITED TO) :
Prepare fruit, vegetable and other food and environmental samples for pesticide residue analysis.
Utilize laboratory equipment required for sample preparation and analysis.
Utilize laboratory utensils and glassware to perform sample extraction, pesticide standard and reagent preparation.
Handle chemicals such as solvents and acids in sample extractions and reagent preparation.
Perform general laboratory support including cleaning and organization.
Prepare chemical reagents and pesticide solutions as required in the analysis.
Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods.
Follow & perform Quality Control (QC) procedures - run QC samples as described in the QC schedule.
Maintain open communication with co-workers
Utilize good laboratory practices and safety within the laboratory.
Perform pipetting and serial dilutions
Requirements
PREFERRED SKILLS :
Science background and / or laboratory skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills (Spanish capabilities, a plus)
Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office
Strong math skills
Professional skills, a plus
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Clean DMV record
Open and flexible work schedule, including late evenings, weekends and / or overtimes
