Job Title: Buyer/Planner
Contract: 1 Years
Work Location: North Main Street, Blacksburg, VA 24060 (100% Onsite)
Job Responsibilities
- Sourcing domestically and internationally the procurement of direct and indirect materials to support manufacturing needs.
- Review MRP requirements and inventory on hand balances to ensure material availability.
- Review and understand blueprints, material specifications and engineering specifications.
- Review quote proposals and negotiates pricing based on budgetary limitations and product requirements.
- Make sourcing decisions based on commodity prices and supplier's ability to meet technology, quality, delivery and cost objectives.
- Execute a range of supply chain management tasks, including but not limited to: critical analysis of operational sustainability needs, and material planning within an ERP system.
- Maintain internal records and system data fields for Purchasing lead times, inventory accuracy and supplier performance data, etc.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business related field, with preferred experience in a manufacturing environment or Associate degree, with at least, 2 years buying experience. Preference will be given to those in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to understand and use and ERP computer system to manage/control inventory requirements on a timely and accurate manner.
- Must have strong organizational skills relative to production and material control.
