Nature and Variety of Work
The incumbent, under the supervision of the Director of the Prince George's County Family Justice Center (PGFJC), will provide advocacy-based and client-centered support to survivors of domestic assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse. This role involves working during the center's extended hours, which are Thursday from 5 : 00 p.m. to 9 : 00 p.m., Friday from 5 : 00 p.m. to 9 : 00 p.m., and Saturday from 10 : 00 a.m. to 10 : 00 p.m.
Examples of Work
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Conducts intake interviews, obtains an extensive client history, determines clients' needs, and develops plans to facilitate healing and recovery.
- Examines all available services with clients and connects them to chosen partner services.
- Provides crisis intervention and safety planning to prospective and current clients.
- Refers clients to agencies that provide supplemental services.
- Generates required forms, reports, and other documents used in the intake process.
- Enters information into the PGCFJC client database.
- Maintains case files with appropriate forms.
- Collects and maintains accurate client data for grant reports.
- Prepares reports for presentation to the director, court administration, committee meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
- Develops and maintains productive working relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Works as a team member with other partners co-located in the PGCFJC.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Services, Sociology, Psychology, or other related fields, plus one (1) year of counseling experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
