The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Special Assistant to the Permit Center Manager position, grade A22, in the Plan Screening & Distribution Division.
About the Position:
This is senior level professional and technical work responsible for complex engineering and project guiding assignments requiring the use of a wide range of engineering principles and practices specific to their assigned area. The Engineer III class independently plans and carries out assignments based on overall objectives, policies, and accepted engineering practices. The Engineer III class of work is typically associated with larger engineering projects or programs affecting County wide services, structures, and facilities such as highway systems, soil conservation, drainage environmental systems, solid waste facilities, sewers, storm water management systems, pump systems, water and wastewater distribution facilities and operations.About The Agency:
The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.
- Prepares and/or reviews engineering designs for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Prepares bid documents for engineering projects; compile and assemble bid information including plans and drawings, specifications, and contract provisions.
- Monitors engineering activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering field determined by the requirements of the position (e.g., civil, environmental, transportation, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, agricultural, agronomy, chemical, industrial, construction); plus,
- Three (3) years of progressive professional engineering experience in the appropriate engineering field. OR
- A Professional Engineer (PE) License may be substituted for the degree and at least three (3) years of professional experience in the appropriate engineering field.
