The Prince George’s County Office of Finance is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Part-Time Account Clerk (Account Clerk III), grade G13, in the Treasury Division.
About the Position
The Office of Finance is seeking a Part-Time Revenue Clerk (Account Clerk III). This position will serve as a floater assisting in various areas of the Treasury Division based on demand.
About the Agency
The Office of Finance is dedicated to maximizing available resources and delivering creative and innovative financial services to a wide range of internal and external customers of the County.
The Office of Finance:
Controls all cash and investments to assure maximum safety, liquidity and yield.
Collects all revenues and receipts due to the County, including property taxes.
Conducts tax sales to collect delinquent property taxes.
Processes and/or monitors payments to vendors, employees, or other payees for goods, services, and other liabilities.
Processes biweekly payroll for 6,000 employees and monthly payroll for 2,000 retirees.
Certifies availability of funds for payment of liabilities and obligations.
Maintains system of accounts and records for all financial transactions.
Reports results of financial operations using established reporting standards and methods.
Facilitates annual financial audit process.
Supports the legislative process - including composing and reviewing draft resolutions and bills, esp., those involving complex financial issues.
Prepare and post regular tax payments received through Incoming mail. Reconcile all transactions and monies collected to the Excel file and mainframe daily. Review deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, financing statements, leases, etc. with accompanying forms presented for record for: correct property owner, legal description, unpaid taxes, circuit breaker taxes, accuracy, and completeness. Respond to general questions regarding assessments, tax credits, taxes due, mortgage company information, transfer and recordation taxes and tax sale. Post payments for property taxes, personal property taxes and redemptions whether at the counter or through the mail.
- Must have experience at the Account Clerk II level equal to the length of the probationary period; or one (1) year of college coursework which included accounting, bookkeeping or financial management
- Six (6) months of experience performing complex accounting/ bookkeeping functions with data processing applications.
- This position requires flexibility in weekly scheduling. Please note that during peak periods, a commitment of up to 40 hours is required, while weekly hours will be less and vary during non-peak times.

- Use of Microsoft applications including Word & Excel
- Comfort with technology
- Experience in the banking, real estate, and/or mortgage industry helpful

Conditions of Employment: Upon selection, the candidate must:
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
- Applicants will be required to pass a performance test, consisting of numeric ordering, use of a calculator, mathematical computations, reading comprehension, completing deposits, and reconciliation.
- Pass a thorough background investigation that includes criminal, motor vehicle, credit history, and drug screening.
- This position will average 30 hours per week for a maximum of 1, 560 hours per year. Flexibility as needed up to 40 hours per week during peak periods with less hours during other times.
