The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a PEER REVIEW & THIRD-PARTY PLANS REVIEW PROGRAMS TECHNICIAN (Engineering Technician 3A) position, grade A20, in the Homeowners & Mega Projects Suite Division.
About the Position:
This is a senior level para-professional engineering technician position in the Mega Projects Unit that assists an Engineering Technician V, with managing Peer Review, Third Party Plan Review Program, monitoring the ePlan system in conjunction with processing and issuing permits utilizing ePermits and Momentum. Work is performed that affords independent judgment and technical evaluation under the general supervision of the Engineering Technician V and/or the Associate Director for the Division or designee. The incumbent performs work diligently to complete tasks and duties as assigned to meet agency needs. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and/or administrative duties relative to the processing of applications through issuance of various County permits (construction, sign, and use and occupancy). The incumbent is required to maintain current knowledge of the permitting processing procedures, which also includes ePlan, ePermits and Momentum related to Peer Review and Third-Party Plan Review Program, for Prince George’s County. All tasks listed in the position description must be performed as required by the Engineering Technician V and/or Associate Director.
About The Agency:The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.
- Building permit processing through issuance of Peer Review Plans and Third-Party Review Plans
- Peer Review/Third Party coordination including all ePlan tasks & facilitation
- Records management/plans log out paper/electronic), ePlan upload/download, case attachments in ePermits/Momentum
- Communication/customer Service
- Other duties as assigned
- Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by college level courses in higher mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry) and civil engineering,
- Four (4) years of para-professional engineering experience.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience in process modeling/design, changes, and reengineering.
- Experience with ePlan (ProjectDox/ProjectFlow) or similar plans review applications.
- Experience with CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting) or similar applications.
- Experience with electronic permitting systems.
- Experience with database tools and creating and executing reports.
- Experience with processing bonds and coordinating the release of bonds.
- Project Management knowledge.
- Strong ability to speak and present in a public forum
