The Prince George’s County Department of Family Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Program Coordinator (Community Developer 3A), grade A24, in the Volunteer Services Unit division.
About the Position
This is a senior level professional position which performs work in the support of the Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP) for individuals aged 55 years and older who have gained a lifetime of experience and put their skills and talents to work in their communities. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the RSVP program materials (written and electronic) to ensure that information is current and easily retrievable; prepares written and oral presentations describing results of analyses of research and planning information relative to the RSVP; works closely with host sites to ensure that success of the Program; provides research and report writing assistance in the development of comprehensive reports; and, completes a variety of statistical and program reports necessary to ensure the continuation of local, state, or federal assistance, where provided. Incumbents may perform the more complex community development assignments subject to extensive public contact. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level Community Developer or other designated official.About the Agency:
The Department of Family Services improves the quality of life and overall well-being of the communities by providing information, assistance and referrals, as well as promoting and developing high quality, innovative programs that educate, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity. The department is responsible for providing assistance to some of the County’s most vulnerable citizens – children, families, victims of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors. The department is comprised of three divisions that serve the aging and disabled, victims of domestic violence, as well as children, youth and families in need of support and resources.
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program
Develops annual goals and objectives, plans new initiatives and expansion projects
Maintains an accurate database of volunteers and host agencies
Drafts correspondence
Recruits volunteers and host sites
Assures reimbursement, volunteer time and attendance reports are processing monthly in a timely manner
Accurately prepares and submits program and statistical reports as required by the funder
Promotes the RSVP in the community
- Bachelor's degree or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or related field
- Two (2) years of responsible community development supervisory work
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with older adults
Experience with volunteer programs
