The Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Quality Management Specialist (Administrative Assistant 3H), grade H24, in the Emergency Operations Command Division.
About the Position
This is a senior lead level, administrative professional in support of a wide range of duties involving the oversight and supervision of the EMS Quality Management Program. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for supporting the administrative duties related to the day-to-day operations of the emergency medical services quality assurance and quality improvement programs. This position reviews reports and information, gathers and analyzes data and provides insight to support decision making and support continuous improvement efforts. This position requires an individual who has a high level of motivation and unquestionable commitment to the highest quality of emergency medical care, clinical practice, and customer service. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is evalutated in terms of its overall contribution to managerial improvement and organizational efficiency.

Examples of Work
- Conducts information system reviews of patient care.
- Provides quality assurance, quality improvement, and incident summary reports.
- Oversees corrective action, training, and remediation for EMS clinicians.
- Produces analytical reports for Command Staff on EMS system data and statistics.
- Oversees complaint tracking and resolution.
- Management of Quality Management Program records.
- Provides required medical incident notifications and jurisdictional data reports to the State Medical Director of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).
- Serves as the Department EMS Quality Management liaison to various medical facilities, workgroups, and for special projects.
- Assists the EMS Commander with daily operations of the EMS system as needed.
- Oversees compliance with state medical protocols and regulations.
- Documentation analysis.
- Sponsors various quality projects and processes that support enhancement of EMS.
- Attends statewide quality management meetings.
- Conducts investigations of internal/external customer complaints, as they relate to clinical care, EMS service or system impact.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from college with major course work in liberal arts, one of the social sciences, or public or business administration
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental administrative work
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess current licensure as a Paramedic by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).
Minimum of five (5) years overall experience as a Paramedic performing advanced life support clinical care in an emergency 9-1-1 service/agency, with at least two (2) years' experience in an emergency medical service's supervisory role.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in process improvement and auditing.
Proficient knowledge of Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Clinicians.
Completion of the MIEMSS Quality Assurance Officer Course.
Proficient knowledge of modern trends in emergency medical services and evidence-based emergency clinical care.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Heightened level of literary understanding, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and communication.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
Proficient skill level in modern office equipment, computers, and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, as well as other software application for data management, document preparations, and presentations.
Completion of an associate's degree or higher in emergency health services, fire science, public safety administration, or other related field from an accredited College or University.
