The Prince George's County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Aide I / II (Administrative Aide 1G), grade G13 , in the Business Operations Division .
About the Position
This is dually allocated entry-level secretarial / administrative type work designed to relieve an important official of administrative detail. An Administrative Aide I / II performs routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities. Responsibility extends to conveying important administrative information concerning the function and mission of the agencies' programs and projects.
About the Agency
The Office of Central Services administers centralized support services for the County Government, including facilities operation and management, contract administration and procurement, fleet management, real estate, construction, administrative services and small, local and the minority business development.
Examples of Work
- Provides general administrative support for the Director's Office, which includes greeting visitors, answering and directing incoming calls, managing the Deputy Director's calendar, scheduling appointments and meetings.
Arranges travel itineraries, preparing expense reports and assisting with special projects as needed.
Types and formats a variety of documents, including memoranda, letters, reports, charts, and forms, using county-provided computer and software applications.
Proofreads and edits materials to ensure accuracy, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Composes replies to routine correspondence and inquiries, escalating complex issues as needed.
Screens telephone calls and incoming mail, responding to inquiries or directing them appropriately.
Maintains the Deputy Director's appointment calendar, schedules appointments, and assists with meeting preparation, including agenda development and material distribution.
Establishes and maintains filing systems and ensures adequate office supplies.
Compiles information from various sources for meetings, projects, or research activities.
Gathers and prepares operational / activity reports using fiscal, budgetary, and personnel data.
Creates and maintains a tracking system for the Deputy Director's tasks and deliverables.
Performs other tasks within the scope of the role and responsibility level as assigned.
Qualifications
One (1) year of advanced diverse and / or technical clerical experience which must have involved working with the public for at least six (6) months; any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience will also be accepted.
Applicants must be proficient in typing and in shorthand where required.

General Plan Information :
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and / or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
