This position may be assigned to a classroom or other work location, including transportation, to interpret and assist with basic classroom instruction, to assist with the personal physical needs of specified individuals, and/or to assist with the safety and comfort of students riding on a school bus.

Detailed Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Per an individual's guided plan or document (i.e. IEP and/or ADA accommodations), provides personalized attention and assistance to assigned student or employee.
Staff may be asked to work specifically with student(s) to develop or improve skills in all academic, functional, behavioral and/or specialized areas of instruction to which assigned:
Assisting student experiencing difficulties working on a project;
Providing assistance with the supervision of the student on field trips;
Sharing in responsibility for maintaining an appropriate work area for student;
Assisting student with personal care/hygiene and bathroom needs such as diapering, and toilet training, with adolescents and young adults
Assisting student with lifting/transferring and positioning in various equipment, adjusting and pushing wheelchairs;
Assisting student experiencing difficulties socially and or emotionally through the implementation of behavior intervention plans and social skills strategies;
Assisting in data collection;
Assisting student in boarding and leaving school buses, and assisting transportation personnel with bodily lifting the student when necessary; and
Performing related duties as required.
Ability to maintain a professional code of ethics.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS :
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High School Diploma Required.
One year of volunteer or paid experience working with children preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Two Professional Letters of Recommendation
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
