The Prince George's County Council is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Aide IV vacancy, grade G19,in the Legislative Branch's Office of Audits & Investigations.
About the Position
This is highly responsible senior level administrative / secretarial work in which the incumbent applies a broad knowledge of the functions of County government. Work at this level is distinguished from that of the Administrative Aide III by the greater complexity and variety of secretarial, administrative and office management functions. The scope of duties requires a greater degree of independent judgment. Administrative Aide IV's may report to the head of a medium-sized department (generally grades ranging from 31 and above), to an important official in the Office of the County Executive or County Council or to a Deputy Director. Incumbents at this level usually receive very general instructions and supervision on most assignments. May coordinate a variety of diverse functions / activities and supervise a small group of clerical employees. Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and timely completion of projects and assignments.
About the Agency
All legislative powers of the County are vested in the County Council. In addition, the County Council sits as the District Council on zoning and land use matters, and as the Board of Health on health policy matters.
Examples of Work
- Responsible for the execution of detailed administrative / secretarial duties of the office.
- Plans develops, organizes, and implements methods and procedures for day-to-day office operations.
- Responsible for incoming and outgoing correspondence including maintenance of research and drafting replies or distribution to the appropriate party from knowledge of previous correspondence and precedent or general oral instructions from the County Auditor.
- Composes responses to various correspondence.
- Maintains inventory control of all available office supplies.
- Relays maintenance requests to the County Council Project Coordinator.
- Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be listed explicitly in the position description but are within the general occupational category and responsibility levels typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Qualifications
Applicants must be proficient in typing and shorthand where required. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered. Please note there is no equivalency for supervisory experience.

General Plan Information :
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and / or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
