The Prince George's County Department of Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Home Monitoring Program Case Manager (Correctional Treatment Coordinator I / II), grade Q21 , in the Community Corrections Division .

About the Position

This is an entry-level to a full-performance level professional position whereby the incumbent performs the full range of assignments in a community correction setting (sites / locations vary). The incumbent in this position must maintain physical fitness to respond rapidly in emergent situations within specific work sites. The incumbent must be able to patrol on foot the internal and external perimeters of the facility, making periodic inspections. The incumbent must be able to lift heavy objects in excess of 30 pounds. The incumbent performs routine, complex work assignments within the Community Corrections Division. This position requires the utilization of ethical and professional independent judgment and action in the performance of duties. Work is monitored and performed through a continuum of training under close supervision and in coordination with a higher-level Correctional Treatment Coordinator.

The Prince George's County Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. We also provide rehabilitative programs to inmates such as : education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence, barber styling school, hairstyling program, women's empowerment, substance abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.

Examples of Work

  • Monitors and supervises program participant's compliance with program requirements.
  • Keeps participants apprised of scheduled court appearances.
  • Coordinates with participants meetings, appointments, and other program-related activities.
  • Maintains electronic contacts via phones, computers, or apps.
  • Participates in the maintenance of case file documentation.
  • Installs electronic monitoring equipment and performs necessary adjustments / repairs as needed.
  • Verifies / approves requests made by program participants to leave CRC or approved residence.
  • Documents unusual situations that occur when conducting on-site checks.
  • Responds to electronic monitoring alerts to address system issues and program violations.
  • Conducts on-site checks (residence, workplace, school, etc.) for participants released to community-based activities.
  • Initiates the necessary documentation to execute the release of an individual on the community-based programs.
  • Reviews cases and compiles information required for individuals to be released from the Correctional Center, such as a verified home address, victim statements, work or school information, etc.
  • Utilizes the electronic monitoring system to monitor individuals assigned to electronic monitoring actively.
  • Access various locations in the DOC offender database.
  • Maintains certification to access NCIC network to retrieve / interpret local, state, and national criminal history information.
  • Interviews prospective participants and other sources necessary for program decisions.
  • Ensures that investigations are thorough and complete.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Public / Business Administration, Education, or closely related fields; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

    Conditions of Employment : Upon selection, the candidate must :

  • Be willing to work in a Correctional Facility.
  • Obtain and remain current with NCIC certifications.
  • Pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Pass a drug screen and subsequent random drug screens.
  • Be willing to work day / evening shifts, weekend hours, and holidays.
  • Pass a physical examination that includes TB testing.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • This position is considered "Essential." The incumbent selected for this position must be willing to stay or report to work during a man-made crisis or inclement weather when other county employees have been granted administrative leave.

    General Plan Information :

    The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.

    A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.

    Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.

    The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).

    New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.

    The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.

    After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and / or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
