Youth Minister (YM)
Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish and School, is currently seeking a full-time Youth Minister, to facilitate the evangelization, formation, and discipleship of Middle School, High School Students in our parish and school. The Youth Minister provides leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of ministry programs for youth within the parish community. The Youth Minister will also collaborate with the Parish School as the Campus Minister, and be responsible for the promotion of the Catholic Identity of the school. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and responsibility. The YM is responsible to the Pastor. Components
- Will ensure that youth are integrated into the life, mission and work of Prince of Peace Parish.
- Will host regular youth group gatherings and organize retreats, missions, and social outings.
- Will help the young people enrich their understanding of the Scriptures and the Sacred Tradition.
- Work with the Religious Education team to foster participation in Sacramental Preparation.
- Will help build an environment that models Catholic principles, develops meaningful relationships and nurtures the Catholic faith.
- Will help nurture a social consciousness and commitment to a life of justice and service.
- Will help to call forth, affirm, and empower the gifts, talents and abilities of young people.
- Will provide guidance to young people in making moral choices and challenge systems that are obstacles to a life of holiness.
- Will support young people in their relationship with God through prayer and the Sacred Liturgy.
- Will attend parish staff and school faculty meetings on a regular basis.
- Will be required to attend the Catholic Mutual Group Connect training and continue to participate in the ongoing, including consenting to a background check.
- Builds the Catholicity of the Parish School by helping to create an environment that reflects our Catholic Traditions.
- Plans quality faith experiences to take place at the Parish School such as liturgies, days of reflection, prayer services, Faith Friends, reconciliation service, and retreats.
- Fosters the service dimension of faith development by promoting and scheduling service opportunities for Parish School Students.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic who attends weekly mass and is in good standing with the Catholic Church.
- Confident public speaking and relationship building.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- College degree and/or prior experience in youth ministry or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Ability to adapt, be flexible & multi-task in a fast-changing environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with team and volunteers.
- Moral life according to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Willing to take on new tasks as assigned.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
