The candidate will be required to meet specific career path requirements within a set period of time.
Candidates who have instrumentation and/or electrical experience may be hired in above the minimum of the salary range for an I&E Technician I depending on experience.

Position Summary:
These positions perform technical maintenance and repair of both Electrical and Instrumentation and control equipment, in support of Prince William Water's maintenance programs. The work involves maintaining and repairing a variety of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, appliances and devices using specialized test equipment and instruments.
Assists qualified personnel in performing technical maintenance and repair of both Electrical and Instrumentation and control equipment, in support of Prince William Water’s maintenance programs. The work involves maintaining and repairing a variety of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment, appliances, and devices using specialized test equipment and instruments. Demonstrates a commitment and supports a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.Position Responsibilities increase based on the Technician Level. The list below reflects the responsibilities of an I&E Technician I. A complete list of duties for Level II and Level III Technicians are available upon request.- Assist in basic preventive maintenance and repairs on instrumentation and electrical equipment including, but not limited to float level switches, submersible pressure transmitters, lighting fixtures, switches and outlets, pressure transmitters, magnetic flow meters, etc.
- Ensure that the work area and storage cabinets are well-maintained, organized, and clean.
- Locate instruments and electrical devices in the facilities process and identify and use the correct tools such as digital multi-meter, ammeter, hand tools, etc, necessary to perform assigned function.
- Complete instrumentation and electrical equipment performance checks, and records findings.
- Perform measuring, cutting, and installation of electrical conduit under the direction of an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician II or higher.
- Under direct supervision install electrical raceways using required tools such as cutters, threaders, benders, clamps, hangers, etc.
- Communicate and work closely with other Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians on daily work assignments, projects, and tasks.
- Utilizes appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, ear protection, hard hat, etc. before beginning an assigned project.
- May be required to participate in and complete rotational training. Estimated training rotation is three months.
- Operate a Prince William Water vehicle.
- May be deemed essential at any time.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Essential Competencies:
- Possesses a working familiarity with the methods and procedures of the instrumentation and electrical trades.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of, tools, equipment, and materials used in the Instrumentation and Electrical trades, as well as basic mathematics, computer usage, and English.
- Ability to assist in preventative maintenance and repairs to a variety of instrumentation and control equipment and electrical equipment.
- Possesses the ability to develop a working knowledge of Prince William Water’s Information Technology systems, including GIS, SCADA, CMMS, as well Microsoft Office.
- Able to effectively communicate with all Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians and customers.
- Able to operate a Prince William Water vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Possesses the ability to follow established Prince William Water policies and procedures in the performance of duties.
- Possesses the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with others.
- Complete Prince William Water testing requirements for the position.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of related experience in Instrumentation or Electrical work.
- Or a combination of education and experience as described above.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license consistent with Prince William Water policy requirements.
- Must meet all career path requirements to advance from an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician I to a Instrumentation and Electrical Technician II within five years of employment in this position.

- Able to operate a Prince William Water vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Ability to follow established Prince William Water policies and procedures in the performance of duties.

- Possesses and demonstrates working knowledge of the methods and procedures of the electrical trade and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the field.

- Possesses a knowledge of and ability to use the Authority’s Information Technology systems, including GIS, SCADA, CMMS, as well Microsoft Office.
- Able to operate a Prince William Water vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Ability to follow established Prince William Water policies and procedures in the performance of duties.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with others.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of related experience in Instrumentation or Electrical work.
- Possesses a combination of education and experience as described above.
- Successfully complete Prince William Water testing requirements for the position.
- Possess a valid Virginia Journeyman Electrical License or possess a valid Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST I) Level I Certification upon hire in this position.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license consistent with Prince William Water policy requirements.
- Required to work on-call as needed.

Salary : $51,188 - $110,643
