Prince William County Community Services is looking for an individual with firsthand, lived experience with substance use disorder(s) and/or co-occurring disorders who has completed their 72-hour training with DBHDS. We are looking for someone who has had success in long-term recovery to fill our Peer Recovery Support Associate (Human Services Associate) position. The incumbent will work with individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders who would benefit from one-on-one support in the community.
About This Role:
In this role, you will be expected to engage with clients in the community daily and link individuals to resources and support in the community to enhance recovery efforts. You will be expected to document all individual engagement and interactions daily. You will be responsible for providing one-on-one peer support to assist individuals in recovery goal setting. You will work directly with your clients to help them to define, create, and move towards their own recovery goals. The person in this role must be able to work in a diverse population to meet the needs of our community.
You will be expected to be familiar with resources in the area and have a working knowledge of recovery tools to assist individuals in their recovery process. You will be able to work with a treatment team to include therapists, case managers, and other professionals and will meet with the treatment team regularly regarding your clients. You will be working closely with community partners to include police, fire and rescue, the ADC, and the PWC health department. You will be expected to collaborate with these other departments, agencies, and community resources on a regular basis and maintain healthy and professional boundaries with all clients, staff, and community partners. In this role you will need to be mindful of HIPAA and privacy regulations that are relevant to the services you provide. You will be expected to stay up to date on all required state and agency training and you will be provided with regular supervision.
In this role you will need to be familiar with the use of an EHR and be a proficient user of MS Suite. You will need to have the ability to adapt to changes, if program evaluation indicates a need for changes. This position targets individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of experience working with substance using and co-occurring adult population or related experience.
Preferences:- Completed 72-hour DBHDS Peer Recovery Specialist training.
- Lived experience in SUD or co-occurring disorders with a minimum 2 years of recovery.
- Should have an understanding of how and where to network with people who abuse substances.
- Experience developing a rapport with substance using and co-occurring population.
- Have received training in providing person-centered, strengths-based support services
- Have received training in assessing client needs and providing access to appropriate services
- Experience providing clinical documentation necessary to maintain client records including treatment planning/wellness recovery plan, progress notes, quarterly reviews and annual assessments
- Be a proficient user level of MS Suite and an EHR
- Bilingual/Spanish-speaking
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license;
- Must pass DMV record check;
- Must pass TB Test;
- Certification in First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, as required.
- Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprinted based national criminal history record check.
Work Schedule: FLSA Nonexempt, M-F 18.75 hours/week
Starting Salary Range: $23.25 - $34.19

Salary : $45,338 - $87,984
