High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (electrical design, plan review, inspections or building code enforcement) experience.
Preferences:
Work Schedule:
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week. There is the ability to telework after the initial probationary period. This is a telework eligible position that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change.
Special Requirements:
Must become certified as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official in accordance with the
Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the Virginia Certification Standards.
Starting Salary Range:
$70,921.50 - $84,440

About This Role:
- Perform technical electrical plan reviews to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code, International Energy Code, County Policies, and Industry Standards
- Provide superior customer service by assisting Designers, Contractors, and Owners with resolving difficult technical problems by providing code compliant solutions
- Serve as a member on Department/Division Process Action Teams
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (electrical design, plan review, inspections or building code enforcement) experience.
Preferences:
- Progressively responsible electrical plan review, inspections, or code enforcement experience in commercial buildings
- Demonstrated experience in using building plans during the design, plan review, construction and/or inspection process for commercial construction projects
- Demonstrated expertise and ability to thoroughly review building plans for compliance with the National Electrical Code and International Energy Conservation Code
- Experience assisting Designers and Contractors with resolving difficult technical problems to provide a Code compliant solution
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files on all plans and specifications reviewed
- Background working with the public in a local government setting
