About This Role
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
•Educating clients on personal financial management practices
•Assessing financial options and helping clients create action plans to achieve their goals (e.g., debt management, savings, credit improvement, homeownership, college planning, or eviction prevention)
•Offering tailored advice on improving credit scores, reducing debt, and increasing savings
•Assisting clients with navigating housing and lending practices, including preparation for homeownership
•Facilitating group workshops and individual counseling sessions on financial literacy and planning
Minimum Requirements
•High School diploma or GED
•At least 2 years of personal financial counseling, housing counseling, or financial education
Preferences
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Social Services, Counseling)
•Experience working with low-income or unbanked clients
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
•Experience working with personal finance principles, including budgeting, debt management, and consumer credit
•One or more of the following certifications:
Master Financial Education Volunteer (MFEV)
HUD Housing Counseling Certification
Virginia Housing "Train the Trainer" qualification
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
Special Requirements
Candidates must obtain Virginia Housing "Train the Trainer" qualification and HUD certification within 30 days of hire if not already certified.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position, averaging 30 hours per week. Work is primarily scheduled during weekday business hours (8:30 AM - 5 PM) with the possibility of one Saturday per month. There is flexibility, and specific hours will be negotiated with the program manager.

Starting Salary Rate: $25.44/HR
Salary : $25 - $49
