Bull Run Library is seeking an enthusiastic part-time Makerspace librarian to join our Team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting and inspiring our community within a dynamic Makerspace environment.
About This Role:
The part-time Makerspace Librarian at Bull Run Library plays a key role in fostering creativity and hands-on learning within our Makerspace. In this position, you will:
- Assist the Makerspace Librarian in maintaining an organized and well-stocked space, tracking supplies, and developing engaging programming.
- Support and guide patrons in the use of Makerspace equipment, including the Cricut, sewing and embroidery machines, serger, Glowforge, Dremel 3D printer, CNC machine, and Handi-Quilter Moxie long-arm quilting machine.
- Participate in library system workgroups, branch committees, and professional development opportunities such as webinars and training.
- Represent the library through community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with branch staff to plan and implement Makerspace programs.
- Continuously learn and stay up to date with the latest tools and technology in the Makerspace.
- Provide occasional support at the public service desk, assisting with reference and circulation duties.
Minimum Requirements: Masters Degree in Library or Information Science
Preferences:
- At least one year of experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Experience with at least two of the following: sewing machine, embroidery machine, serger, Cricut, Glowforge, or 3D printer.
- Experience in the applied arts, creativity, and hands-on making.
- Experience planning and conducting community outreach or programming.
- Proficiency with technology and the ability to instruct others in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher), and email applications.
- Experience troubleshooting problems and assisting patrons in use of office equipment to include desktop computers, laptop tablets, copiers, printers and scanners.
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), non-exempt position scheduled to work during library operating hours (currently M-W 10-8, Th-Sa 10-5, Sun 1-5), including one evening weekly and rotating weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is important.
Starting Salary Range: $65,910 – 79,408.88 / year

Salary : $65,910 - $119,906
