Job Summary :
This position plans and implements an instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades K-5. This position manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as required; carries out a variety of student monitoring and control activities; performs related duties as assigned. This position serves as a general education, elementary classroom teacher (K-5); classes taught may be in a single or team or departmental setting, but teachers might work independently in a unique teaching specialty. Some positions are assigned to reading or technology labs. This position is under the general supervision of a principal and / or other designated administrator.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of grade level(s) or instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
- Knowledge of child growth and development
- Knowledge of Prince William County Public Schools curricula, program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals, and organization
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Ability to plan and implement lessons using the Standards-Based Instructional Planning Process and based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of assigned students
- Ability to utilize multi-media and computer technology, as appropriate
- Skills in oral and written communication; excellent human relations skills
- If teaching choral music, the ability to teach through demonstrating singing / choral techniques, proficiency on the piano; ability to distinguish pitches and tone quality
- If teaching instrumental music classes, proficiency in one or more musical instruments, and the ability to model correct playing techniques in all instruments; the ability to distinguish pitches and tone quality
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree
Collegiate Professional, Post Graduate Professional, or appropriate vocational license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement(s) required for teaching assignment(s).#J-18808-Ljbffr
