About This Role
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to coordinate and provide high quality training to law enforcement personnel and professional staff members. Prince William County In-Service Coordinators are assigned to the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy and are responsible for providing quality training to personnel. The position requires candidates to understand and apply adult learning concepts to students to relay information effectively. The position is responsible for the coordination, development, preparation, and presentation of courses of instruction following approved lesson plans. Duties may include preparing lesson plans, organizing forms, handouts, and facilitating video/audio presentations. Each Work also involves implementing compliance with departmental rules, policies, and safety standards and ensuring the training needs of department personnel are met. The In-Service Coordinator will provide administrative and technical support related to training programs. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related (law enforcement, criminal justice, public safety, and/ or education, training, and development) experience.
Preferences
In-Service Coordinators typically work weekdays 7am-3:30pm. The ability to adjust the working hours during training cycles may be needed.
Hiring Salary Range
$31.44 - $36.98

About This Role

The In-Service Coordinator will provide administrative and technical support related to training programs. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Scheduling training classes, reviewing files to determine training needs, enrolling participants in appropriate training courses, responding to questions related to training programs, communicating with vendors to set up training courses, and researching training courses to recommend implementation.
- Ensuring sound training is presented to sworn law enforcement members, and professional staff.
- Updating lesson plans; ensures lesson plans are current, accurate, complete, and meet standards which reflect the ever-evolving field of law enforcement practices.
- Developing and revising visual aids, PowerPoint, and written/practical examination materials.
- Introducing training courses and instructors; ensures students are directed appropriately on Academy procedures, facility regulations, training, and other pertinent information related to the course content.
- Facilitate training, outreach, and educational classes; collect participation data and evaluations; may be required to identify locations, schedule speakers, coordinate and troubleshoot AV needs, and coordinate materials required for training courses.
- Maintain records and data on education or client information.
- Conduct educational and outreach events.
- Support marketing and outreach for training programs.
- Schedule training programs, events, or one-on-one meetings.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary for the position.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related (law enforcement, criminal justice, public safety, and/ or education, training, and development) experience.
Preferences
- Skill training law enforcement officers
- Instructor experience
- Developing, reviewing, and/or writing lesson plans
- Experience in training and development
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must Pass DMV check, Polygraph, Background Investigation and Employment Physical.
- Must be proficient in the operation of a motor vehicle.
