The Department of Fire and Rescue is seeking two dedicated Pharmacy Logistical Assistants to assist in the management of its comprehensive pharmacy program consisting of a central pharmacy along with 22 designated locations throughout Prince William County.
About This Role
The Fire and Rescue Pharmacy Logistical Assistant is responsible for managing, maintaining, and distributing medical supplies, medications, and equipment for Fire and Rescue operations. This role ensures Fire and Rescue teams are well-equipped with the necessary tools, medications, and supplies to deliver optimal patient care in emergency situations. As a key member of the Fire and Rescue team, the Pharmacy Logistical Assistant oversees inventory, prepares and delivers supplies, and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols, while also assisting with the pharmaceutical needs of the team.
Responsibilities in this role may include, but are not limited to:
37.5 hours per week, with the periodic need to work night or weekend hours in support of emergency callbacks.
Starting Salary Range: $23.25-$34.19 per hour

About This Role
The Fire and Rescue Pharmacy Logistical Assistant is responsible for managing, maintaining, and distributing medical supplies, medications, and equipment for Fire and Rescue operations. This role ensures Fire and Rescue teams are well-equipped with the necessary tools, medications, and supplies to deliver optimal patient care in emergency situations. As a key member of the Fire and Rescue team, the Pharmacy Logistical Assistant oversees inventory, prepares and delivers supplies, and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols, while also assisting with the pharmaceutical needs of the team.
Responsibilities in this role may include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of medical supplies including medications, equipment, and personal protective gear.
- Prepare and pack Fire and Rescue supply kits, ensuring all required items, including pharmaceuticals, are available for field operations. Assist with stocking ADM and Amazon Lockers located at fire stations throughout the county.
- Distribute and deliver medical supplies, medications, and equipment to Fire and Rescue teams throughout the county based on operational needs.
- Inspect and maintain Fire and Rescue equipment such as defibrillators, oxygen tanks, stretchers, and other medical devices to ensure proper functionality.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a pharmacy setting, including ambulatory care, or emergency services paramedic.
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or certified Paramedic.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) such as the Pharmacy Technical Certification Board or have successfully completed a formal (i.e. technical or hospital-based program) pharmacy technician training program OR certified Paramedic.
- Experience working with Fire and Rescue systems managing EMS Supplies.
- Minimum of one year of administrative experience maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of supplies, equipment usage, medication dispensation, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of Stryker EMS equipment (AED, Lifepak. Stretchers, Stairchairs etc.).
- Fire & Rescue Requirements: Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia State Board of Health 12VAC5-31-540, VA EMS Regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the Central Crime Records Exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police; and a driving record transcript from the individual’s state Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s license
- Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in at least one state territory, or commonwealth of the U.S. and/or be National Registered Paramedic.
- Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
37.5 hours per week, with the periodic need to work night or weekend hours in support of emergency callbacks.
