- Associate’s degree in Nursing
- Maintains current Registered Nurse (RN) license by the Florida Department of Health – renewed bi-annually.
- Must have and maintain one of the following certifications:
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners –
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP) – renewed every 3 years
- Maintains current BLS certification.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the development, coordination, presentation and evaluation of perinatal education and support for parents and
- Identifies and provides resources for continuing education in lactation.
- Facilitates systematic problem solving related to lactation in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, the client
- Fosters ongoing breastfeeding support via telephone and/or at mother’s groups.
- Completes and updates breast pump and scale rental contracts. Processes payments, enters, updates and reconciles in rental
- Performs inventory of rental and retail items. Performs inventory of class supplies and prepares materials.
- Responsible for cleaning and checking the performance of returned rental equipment.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of perinatal health, educational principles, project management skills, group dynamics and
- Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding women, infants and children.
