Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Develops implements, operates and maintains the drug replacement program possibly in collaboration with external vendors.
- Works with patients to evaluate eligibility in medication assistance programs, accesses appropriate reimbursement programs and
- Manages receipt of replacement medications, and performs related patient accounting credits/charges. Assures compliant billing
- Develops implements, operates and maintains co-pay assistance programs.
- At some sites, facilitates the approval and distribution of the charity funds to qualifying patients and acts a liaison with the Orlando
- Generates letters of appeal for insurance authorization to aid the physicians in demonstrating medical necessity of medications for
- Communicates/promotes associations with patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, social workers, patient accounting staff,
- Collects and provides analysis of pharmacy statistical information. Identifies reimbursement trends and needs through development
- Demonstrates knowledge in Medical Terminology.
- Demonstrates leadership skill in both verbal and nonverbal communication behaviors.
- Demonstrates and understands various computer systems, including clinical and financial systems, in operation in the department
- Maintains confidentiality of the patient, hospital, and departmental issues.
- Utilizes critical thinking and analytical skills in job performance and independently solves problems
- Prioritizes work load to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state

- Pharmacy technician certification may substitute for up to one (1) year of required experience.
- Associate degree may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
