Position Summary

Essential Functions
Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Surgical technology training program, or Baptist Health or Orlando Health Training Program, or an accredited physician assistant program
Licensure/Certification Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Experience None.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
- Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
- Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
- Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
- Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
- Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
- May have limited access to areas where medications are stored.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Practices efficient use of time and supplies.
- Maintains a clear, safe, and organized work area.
