What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Team Assistant (HTA) position at Princeton Health Care Center?
The HEALTH TEAM ASSISTANT is a member of the Nursing Department who is able to assist the resident and health care team by performing certain duties that do not involve direct, hands-on care in a manner that is consistent with the mission and principles that assure the highest practical level of quality care and services to our residents and other customers.
Essential Job Duties:
The Health Team Assistant:
- Receives an assignment from the licensed nurse on the unit to which assigned.
- Performs procedures to assist the Registered Nursing Assistant in resident care as follows:
- Makes unoccupied beds.
- Distributes clean towels, washcloths and bathing and grooming supplies to resident rooms as needed.
- Straightens the resident’s living space, cleans nursing related equipment and other work areas such as the nourishment center and utility rooms as assigned.
- Passes water pitchers with fresh water and ice in the morning and afternoon.
- Wipes off surfaces in the resident’s rooms while straightening the resident’s room.
- Assists ambulatory and wheelchair bound residents to the Dining Room and Activities as scheduled.
- Assists in labeling personal clothing and belongings as needed.
- Assists with the distribution and set-up (opening cartons, eating utensils, containers, etc.) of meal trays and supplemental feedings to residents who are independent in eating.
- Answers call lights promptly and reports care needs to the Registered Nursing Assistant or supervising nurse.
- Visits with residents and assists with reading to residents, writing letters, or other personal services.
- Attends meetings and participates in educational programs as scheduled.
- Reports to the nurse whenever leaving the unit or going off duty.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all residents and facility information to which exposed.
- Is respectful of the privacy and dignity of all residents, knocking before entering a resident’s room.
- Follows facility rules for safety for him/her self, the residents, visitors and staff.
- Washes hands thoroughly before handling food or water pitchers, ice or water, before handling clean linens or a resident’s personal belongings, between individual resident units, after handling soiled linens, other objects or visiting the restroom.
- Reports any safety concern immediately to the supervisor.
- May be required to provide one on one interaction / sitting with residents as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
