Job Purpose
To lead and manage the Wellness program at Princeton Windrows, and ensure best practices in resident safety and wellness. The Director promotes healthy living through routine in-house-services, health education and support services, and referrals based upon resident needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following but are not limited to the following)
- Evaluate and orient new residents and their families to the Wellness Department
- Complete and maintain an individualized history for each resident in clinical
- Monitor resident status as needed
- Communicate with physicians regarding residents’ health and personal care needs when necessary and appropriate
- Assist with scheduling lab tests, physician appointments, or diagnostic tests ordered by a physician when requested by a resident or legal representative
- Visit residents who are ill in their homes, assess and follow-up and offer referrals to Home Health Agencies when requested and necessary
- Respond to emergency calls from residents when on duty, direct staff and provide emotional support for significant others, transfers history and assessment information to emergency medical personnel
- Give treatments, injections, dressings etc. per physician’s order; instruct residents in same when long-term therapies are required; maintain educational material for this purpose and educate Residents concerning disease prevention and disease related problems
- Counsel residents and family, refer and triage per legal scope of professional nursing practice
- Supervise and schedule classes and lectures related to health and fitness
- Provide orientation, training, supervision and evaluation for all personnel
- Schedule staff hours and adjust as needed to maintain adequate staffing and budgetary guidelines
- Interview and hire Wellness Department staff in accordance with community policies
- Arrange for onsite CPR &AED certification for Association staff
- Arrange in-service training periodically
- Participate with Health and Wellness Committee, provide monthly reports
- Communicate with resident’s family as needed
- Ensure proper maintenance of resident files for accurately and confidentially
- Monitor and follow-up of incident reports, institute any corrective action
- Plan and supervise vaccine clinic
- Monitor and update emergency resident list
- Interview, hire independent contractors for exercise programs
- Proactively build relationships with care managers, home care agencies, rehabilitation and other care facilities
- Ongoing communication with all departments concerning wellness operations and potential residents issues involving their department
- Maintain and update certain aspects of clinical software that is pertinent to the Wellness Center
- Generate reports as requested- as present number of deaths and age at death, ages of residents that move in
- Create and maintain budget set forth for Wellness
Qualifications
The Director of Wellness will have a registered nursing license and ten years of nursing experience, as well as a minimum of five years experience in a healthcare or senior living field.
