Associate Accountant (Data & Controls)

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an Associate Accountant (Data & Controls) to join our Principal Global Investors Assets Under Management team. In this role, you’ll provide technical support with an emphasis on data and controls for various internal systems and processes.

• Troubleshoot and problem solve process and data related issues within all our internal reporting systems.
• This includes loading data files to our various internal reporting tool (assets, revenue, and forecast) and validating results.
• Utilize technical skillset to update and maintain MDX, Python, SQL scripts.
• Identify automation opportunities to improve processes, mitigate risks, and enhance controls.
• Strong emphasis on data governance and ensuring correct and accurate data.
• Assist team in data-driven projects and ad hoc requests in an agile environment.
• Collaborate with various teams across PFG to ensure all our reporting tools are operating efficiently and effectively, provide strong communication, and deliver results.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience required. Double major or a minor in an IT related field is a plus.
• Exposure to basic programming and relational databases (SQL, Python, MDX).
• Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills required. Must have good interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment.
• Ability to work independently to achieve results.
• Solid understanding of Excel and system capabilities/techniques.
• Experience with accounting or investment accounting systems.
• Must be able to meet established deadlines, work in a fast-moving environment and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$23.29 - $31.51 / hour
Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Work Environments

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA.
