What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Wholesaler- Business Insurance Solutions position at Principal Financial Group?
This role works in partnership with an assigned external wholesaler to generate and manage pipeline, close sales, and develop mutually profitable advisor relationships with business insurance solutions (Life and Disability focus).
Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:
- Grow sales in an assigned segment of advisors/brokers by leading or participating in virtual presentations and/or phone engagement
- Design and implement marketing and sales initiatives/campaigns via virtual presentations, phone engagement, and email
- Support in daily sales initiatives and territory management
- Direct preparation of proposals and other sales materials, providing expertise on products, concepts, illustrations, and service issues

Who You Are
- Requires college degree or eight years of equivalent experience, and 4 years related experience in financial services or sales (insurance experience strongly preferred)
- Broad understanding of insurance operations, products, and concepts with the ability to apply marketing strategies and systems required
- Strong planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities needed
- Must be self motivated and goal oriented with ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Requires effective verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to develop effective relationships and motivate producer behavior
- Some travel required
Licenses and/or exams necessary for this position include:
- Life and Variable Life insurance license in state of residence within 60 days of hire, with appointment within 120 days of hire
- FINRA Series SIE, 6 and 63 exams are also required within 6 months of hire
- Maintaining all applicable licenses is required for continued employment in this position
- Cannot participate in any solicitation until properly licensed

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$43350 - $82800 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Location
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
