Machine Maintenance Supervisor- Manufacturing
Principal Manufacturing is seeking a Machine Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Broadview, IL. As a leader in fineblanking, conventional stamping and plastic injection molding, Principal Manufacturing sets itself above the competition.
Machine Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of maintenance technicians and apprentices, ensuring the proper upkeep and repair of all production machinery within the facility by implementing preventative maintenance schedules, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, managing parts inventory, and training team member to maintain optimal operational efficiency while adhering to the safety regulations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. Make necessary adjustments to ensure production schedule is being met.
- Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring performance to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to develop technical skills of maintenance staff. Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all production machinery based on manufacturer guidelines and equipment usage.
- Monitor and track preventative maintenance activities to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify wear and tear, and initiate necessary repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production machinery.
- Perform repairs and replacements of components on machinery, including mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and pneumatic components.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance services when required.
- Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts and critical components for efficient repair response.
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate timely reordering to avoid production delays.
- Manage parts budget and ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Enforce all safety procedures and regulations related to machine maintenance, including proper lockout/tagout practices.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for maintenance staff.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents related to machinery operation and maintenance.Monitor work performed by outside contractors.
- Finalize purchase orders for repair parts and maintain inventory of critical parts.
- Supervises and trains the job of apprentices.
- Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance cost and key metrics to identify areas for improvement
Required Skill/Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or equivalent Education/ Certification
- 10 years of machine maintenance experience
- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Proven experience in industrial machinery maintenance with expertise in troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and train a team of maintenance technicians
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to diagnose equipment issues
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and blueprints
- Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance regulations related to industrial machinery maintenance
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with production staff and management
- Internal commercial electrical circuits as well as water and compressed air.
- Basic computer skills i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
- ERP knowledge
