Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting the overall productivity of laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, accountability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Laboratory Testing and Compliance
Perform all laboratory testing specific to the assigned section according to standard operating protocols (SOPs).
Participate in the laboratory’s competency assessment program and ensure timely completion of assessments.Adhere to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies, including troubleshooting and refraining from reporting patient results when out of control.Comply with accreditation standards, including periodic SOP reviews and documentation.Equipment and Resources ManagementSuccessfully troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.
Use company resources, such as reagents and supplies, efficiently to minimize costs.Documentation and ReportingComplete, verify, and report testing results accurately and on time.
Notify the laboratory manager of reporting errors and ensure proper corrective actions.Participate in the notification and documentation of critical values to providers as per CAP requirements.Maintain proficiency with the laboratory information system.Safety and Regulatory ComplianceComply with safety guidelines, procedures, and regulatory mandates.
Participate in the laboratory’s proficiency testing program to ensure compliance with laws and accreditation standards.Adhere to the laboratory’s Quality Assurance program and contribute to its success.Productivity and Team SupportAdjust, prioritize, and organize work to meet workload demands efficiently.
Assist peers and supervisors with tasks after completing assigned work.Adhere to the attendance policy and begin work as scheduled.Work independently and utilize available resources to maximize efficiency.Training and DevelopmentParticipate in process improvement projects.
Coach and mentor students and Lab Assistants as assigned.Customer ServiceManage customer service interactions with diplomacy and professionalism.
Actively facilitate resolutions to problems and address the needs of internal and external clients.Computer SkillsMaintain proficiency in laboratory computer systems and processes.
Properly acquire specimen data into computer systems.Analyze and evaluate patient results accurately and appropriately.Store patient information and results for easy future access as required.Other DutiesComplete additional laboratory tasks as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.MLT or MT (ASCP / AMT) certification is required.3 or more years of clinical lab experience working as a generalist.Experience with hematology, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis, and some microbiology.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
