Perfect Binder Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Perfect Binder Operator with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the printing industry to join our dynamic team. Duties

• Set up, operate, and maintain perfect binding equipment, including gathering, milling, gluing, nipping, and covering units.
• Ensure proper setup of all binding components, including covers, endpapers, and book blocks.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent quality and production speed.
• Conduct regular quality checks throughout the binding process, inspecting for defects such as loose pages, crooked spines, and adhesive issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with the binding equipment, performing routine maintenance and preventative repairs.
• Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, downtime, and material usage.
• Collaborate with other team members, including press operators and finishing personnel, to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of projects.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating perfect binding equipment in a commercial printing environment is required.
• Proven ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot perfect binding machinery.
• Strong understanding of paper types, grain direction, and their impact on binding quality.
• Experience with various adhesive types (e.g., hot melt, PUR) and their applications.
• Knowledge of different binding techniques and cover materials.
• Ability to read and interpret job specifications and production schedules.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus.
