Job Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and physically capable individuals to join our team as Temporary Labor – Barn Cleaners. The positions will be essential for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the barns following various equestrian and cattle shows at the New York State Fairgrounds. Staff will work in shifts, and the ability to lift weights between 25-50 lbs is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and clear stalls of bedding and manure post-events, ensuring thorough sanitation of barn areas.
- Use provided tools (shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows) to efficiently clean assigned stalls.
- Scrub and disinfect stall walls and floors to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Remove any unnecessary fixtures or structures under the direction of NYS Fair staff.
- Handle and dispose of waste materials properly and responsibly.
- Follow safety protocols and use provided personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, masks).
- Maintain a work environment that complies with all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to comfortably lift 25-50 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Experience: Previous experience in janitorial or cleaning work is preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Ability to follow instructions and maintain a strong work ethic.
- Availability: Must be available for scheduled shifts (7 AM - 3:30 PM and 3:30 PM - 12 AM) on the following dates:
- June 9, 16, 30; July 1, 2, 28, 29; July 31; August 1, 4, 5, 11; September 2-5, 14, 22, 23, 29.
Compensation:
- Wage Rate: Shall comply with the prevailing wage rates as outlined in the attached schedule PRC# 2025900289.
- Benefits: Eligible for paid time off, vacation, and sick leave after meeting specific employment criteria as detailed in the prevailing wage documentation.
