What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Coordinator position at Priority Physical Therapy?

Our patient’s initial interaction with our front desk is the beginning of their healing process. We are looking for someone who has the personal skills and professional competence to make that a positive experience.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Welcoming patients promptly as they arrive
- Responsible for patient appointments and cancellations, and reviewing therapist schedules to
effectively fill openings through the use of a medical records system
- Ensure new patients complete appropriate paperwork.
- Collect co-payments from patients, clearly documenting transaction on a written receipt
- Interface with insurance companies to obtain authorization for workers compensation claims,
tracking visits approved. Verify all private insurances and obtain benefits for physical therapy
- Documenting patient visits, faxing initial evaluations, discharge summaries and notes to the
appropriate physician
- Answering phones
- Handling emails, faxes, and direct mail
- Collection of patient payments
- Weekly/daily reports
- Maintain a clean front office and waiting room
- Explanation of Benefits to newly evaluated patients
- Handling the process to help patients get fully signed up for workshops and care
- Data Entry – you need to be proficient with Microsoft Office Products and basic data entry
- Other duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS - Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years experience reception or front office experience.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to multitask, organizational detail, ability to meet deadlines, work with little to no supervision, as a member of a team, efficient time management skills, computer programs including (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to prioritize tasks
