What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Educator K-6 position at Priority Placements, Inc?
Priority Placements is seeking a special education teacher (full or part-time) for our K-6 program and 7/8th graders. We are looking for a long term substitute special educator this spring but also a New Position for special educator 2025-2026.
The candidate must hold a Vermont Agency of Education license. Must have experience with teaching to all types of students and willingness to learn and try multiple methods to help each student achieve academic success. Providing feedback for progress reports, attending school meetings as necessary, and being a voice for the students in our program. Tracking student performance through various, appropriate assessments, and providing feedback to school teams, medical teams, etc, as requested. Responsible for all special education documentation, completion, and organization. Maintaining up to date IEPs and sharing with staff any changes. this also includes, but is not limited to, progress reporting, Medicaid, student performance checklists, state disability packets, etc., and must be completed in a timely manner. Demonstrates capacity to understand agency policies and procedures regarding the care and supervision of students referred by school districts. Experience managing child and adolescent behaviors and ability to understand factors which improve or negatively affect student behaviors in school and community settings. Must be reliable, conscientious, and able to transmit and receive communication as necessary to provide consistent, high-quality services to students. Teaching occurs 1:1 or in small groups of 1:2 or 1:3 (generally).
