About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Compliance to lead all day-to-day compliance activities across our business. This senior role will report to the Chief Legal Officer and will be primarily responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable energy regulatory requirements applicable to the business. The role will also collaborate on compliance with other key business functions. The role will promote and influence an internal culture of controls and compliance with laws, regulations, and the company’s policies and procedures through supporting the development, implementation, and managing the maintenance of a program consistent with the corporate ethics strategy and best regulatory compliance practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with wholesale and retail electric energy markets, electric generation, and transmission, distribution and interconnection issues at the federal and state levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to energy procurement, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and generation.
- Policy & Program Development: Establish and maintain compliance programs, policies, and controls that align with Priority Power’s business objectives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including operations, tax, finance, and engineering, to integrate compliance into decision-making and project development.
- Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting: Track and interpret regulatory changes, providing proactive guidance on their impact on Priority Power’s business and clients.
- Risk Management & Audits: Conduct internal compliance audits, investigations, and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Training & Culture Building: Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees and leadership to promote a strong compliance culture.
- Process & Technology Enhancement: Improve compliance reporting, data management, and automation processes for greater efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: 10 years in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within the energy sector, with expertise in FERC, ISO, and PUC regulatory frameworks.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of energy procurement, load management, interconnection, distributed generation, and private T&D infrastructure.
- Problem-Solving & Leadership: Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and deliver practical compliance solutions.
- Communication & Influence: Strong ability to advise senior leadership and cross-functional teams on compliance risks and best practices.
