Job Summary:
As a Senior Underwriter you will underwrite complex and/or large volume merchants and ensure risks are properly mitigated. Assist underwriters in increasing their industry knowledge and underwriting skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Calculate the risk exposure of large complex merchant accounts.
- Full understanding of Card Brand underwriting rules for all types of card processing relationships (Merchant, Payment Facilitator, Marketplace…etc.).
- Analyze credit information (Banking and processing) to determine if the profile supports the risk exposure.
- Ability to perform a full financial review and spread financials to determine the ability of a merchant to support their process risk (as needed).
- Ability to draft in-depth credit packages that require bank approvals.
- Take ownership of the credit process, making decisions in the best interest of the customer and organization.
- Understand and read credit reports (Consumer and Commercial).
- Negotiate with Partners and Merchants on approval structure (reserves, ACH delay…etc.) to mitigate risks and maximize revenues.
- Provide ongoing training for junior underwriters and for merchant sales channels.
Comply with and enforce company policies and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
2-4-year College Degree with 5 years of work experience in a related working field.
- Excellent management, communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Bank lending experience is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Industry knowledge.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; able to handle a situation under pressure and find a solution; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Ability to receive and analyze data and input data into the computer.
Must be able to receive and understand instructions, and carry out those instructions.
Compensation rate - $ 36 - $38.50
