Prism Electric is offering an interactive internship opportunity that will give an insight into project management. Interns will be partnered with an experienced mentor that will assist in developing useful skills that can be used to further their education and even beyond graduation. Students will have an all-encompassing experience by being actively involved in the completion of commercial projects and have exposure to all phases of construction. During this time, students will develop relationships with other project teams, contactors, vendors and field level personnel. Requirements:
- Be enrolled in a higher education institution as a sophomore, junior or senior
- Must be pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Electrical Engineering
- Must be highly motivated and eager to learn
- Exemplary written and verbal skills
- Strong collaboration and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Available to work 40 hours per week
- Read and interpret blueprint drawings using Bluebeam software
- Assist project manager with submission of RFI's and associated logs
- Assist with the change order process including take offs and submittals
- Understanding scope of work and the use of change orders
- Draft purchase orders and assist with tracking associated vendor billing
- Reviewing project costs weekly
- Solicit vendor and contractor proposals
- Learn and understand how to properly interpret contracts, subcontracts, and associated documents
- Facilitate project team and client meetings effectively
- Assist with the information flow from the General Contractor, to Construction Management, to the field
- Keep project team well informed of changes and updates
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to project team & superiors
- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
- Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
